Unearth a Story

Forsyth County Public Library 2026 Summer Reading Program

Embark on a journey of curiosity, discovery, and learning for everyone from the young to young at heart with the 2026 Forsyth County Public Library Summer Reading Program ... Unearth a Story! Whether you enjoy digging into a good book, uncovering hidden meanings, or exploring the past, Unearth a Story underscores the joy of discovery that reading brings.

The Forsyth County Public Library has a countless number of stories to discover within our walls, on our shelves, and the programs and services we offer to our communities. We hope you’ll learn something new about yourself, your community, and your library this summer.

The Summer Reading program kicks off on Friday, June 5 with activities inside and outside the Forsyth County Central Library. Pick up a Summer Reading calendar and a passport to record what you discovered about the library’s offerings, county departments, and more!

While you’re out on the lawn ... Sample tasty treats from our own Chef Floyd or purchase sweet and savory delights from a food truck. Enjoy facepainting, lawn games, bubbles, crafts, and icy pops (while supplies last). See what you can uncover in the Fossil Dig station. Dance like a dinosaur to the songs played by our resident DJ Mac Daville.

While you’re in the Central Library ... Learn about the 20+ book clubs that offer something to every book lover. Find out about the many programs, services, and resources available from Forsyth County departments and Library partners. See how a Glowforge laser printer works in the Makerspace. Record five or more activities in your Summer Reading Passport to win a prize!

When you’re not attending programs or performances at branches, we hope you’ll take some time this summer to read. Librarians have curated lists of reading recommendations for multiple age groups and genres. Pick up a bookmark (or two!) at your favorite branch or check out the lists online and connect with our online catalog.

Want some swag this summer? Beginning Friday, June 5 you can pick up a Digby card (named for our Summer Reading mascot).Record the books you read and the things you do this summer in the community and at the library to win something small and be entered to win something big! Maybe not T-Rex big, but something you’re sure to enjoy.

Have a wonderful summer of discovery!
