Virginia Evans event moves to larger location; registration reopens Mon., April 13

Is Virginia Evans Winston-Salem's Taylor Swift? It seemed so when the registration window opened up for her April 21 scheduled appearance at the Forsyth County Central Library. The registration and waitlist filled up in a matter of minutes, so the Library got to work finding a larger venue.

And we did! First Baptist Church at 501 W. Fifth St. is opening its doors to fans of Virginia Evans and her debut novel The Correspondent, dramatically expanding the potential audience to match the local and national interest.

The event will still take place on Tuesday, April 21 at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. Registration will reopen on Monday, April 13 at noon ET on the Forsyth County Public LIbrary's online calendar.

A new venue means some new things to know before the April 21 event. Here's some FAQs for you.

I registered for the event on April 1. Do I have to register again?
No. If you successfully registered or were placed on the waitlist on April 1 you'll be automatically registered for the event at First Baptist. If you weren't able to register before, you can try again beginning on Monday, April 13 at noon:

  1. Go to calendar event and click on the purple Register button.
  2. Enter your first name in the top line and last name in the bottom line and click Next.
  3. Enter and confirm your email address* or enter your phone number.
  4. Click Submit.
*People who enter an email address when registering will receive reminders and notifications of their successful registration, placement on the waitlist, and/or movement to the registration list.

Can I register multiple people at one time?
No. The registration system for this event is limited to one person per registration. However, a single person can register multiple people in separate transactions. Each registration must be under a unique name and a unique email address/phone number.

Will there be a waitlist?
Yes. Once the registration list is full, up to 50 people will be added to the waitlist. If a person cancels their registration for the event, the first person on the waitlist will move to the registration list. This would open up a slot on the waitlist, and registration would open up again until the waitlist spot is filled.

Will there be free parking?
On-street parking is free in downtown Winston-Salem after 5 p.m. Refer to this map for other free and paid parking areas near the venue.

Can I buy a copy of The Correspondent at the event?
Bookmarks, downtown Winston-Salem's nonprofit bookstore, will be selling books by both authors at the event:

  • The Correspondent by Virginia Evans: $28
  • The Correspondent: Deluxe Edition by Virginia Evans: $35
  • The Enigma Affair by Charlie Lovett: $17.99
  • Escaping Dreamland by Charlie Lovett: $16.99
